Q & A

Common Questions and Answers

How do I wear the Homesteader?

The Homesteader is a shoulder sling style holster system that can be worn on your strong side near the waistline. Simply Reverse the sling to the opposite shoulder and it can be worn as a cross draw. Attach the anti-sway straps to your desired belt loops for a secure hold to your waistline.

Can I conceal the Homesteader?

The Homesteader is designed to be worn open carry with comfort and style, with the idea of carrying that heavy firearm comfortably with easy access. However, it can be concealed with a jacket, vest, or sweatshirt if desired. The Homesteader comes in multiple sizes so we recommend choosing the small (50″) sling and wearing it cross draw for good concealment and easy access. It would compare to a normal shoulder holster.

How do I change the holster on the Homesteader?

The Homesteader is equipped with Texas screws holding the sling to the support strap (where the holster sits). Simply loosen the screws with a flathead screwdriver and slide the holster off the support strap and replace with your other holster or accessory (coming soon). The Homesteader will only accommodate holsters and accessories from our line.

Common Questions and Answers

Can I use the Homesteader in quick draw competitions?

The Homesteader was not designed for quick draw and speed shooting competitions. It was designed to accommodate heavier firearms for comfort and accessibility. While proper training and gun safety can lead to ease of use of our product, we do not recommend using it for quick draw competitions.

Are their different sizes of the Homesteaders?

Yes. The Homesteader comes in multiple sling sizes including small (50″), regular (54″), XL (60″) and XXL (64″).

How do I measure myself to choose a size?

We recommend using a sewing tape measure to get your size. Simply measure from your waistline (or desired holster set height) up and around the opposite shoulder (like a sling) and back down the backside arriving back at where you started. That length will get you close to which size we offer and go with that one. If you wish to cross draw we recommend the next size down (smaller) from what you measured close to originally.

Common Questions and Answers

Can I wear my holster on a belt without the sling?

Our Holsters are made so they are an exclusive fit to the sling system. The slots that you would feed your belt through on the back of the holster are purposely sized different than a standard belt size. While the holster may be removed and worn individually on a belt, we recommend not doing this as the holster may present extra movement or sliding on the belt when wearing or drawing.

What firearms will fit inside the SA Cowboy holster?

The SA (single action) Cowboy holster is a universal holster that will fit most single action revolvers. Frames as small as a Rough Ryder 22 on up to a single action army clone, like a Pietta 1873, will be accommodated by this holster. Revolvers that are slightly larger framed would be better suited for the Semi Auto holster as it has a wider trigger guard space.

What firearms will fit inside the Semi Auto holster?

The Semi Auto holster is a universal holster that will accommodate most full size and compact pistols including those heavy 1911s to a full size Dagger or Glock 17. Although the Homesteader was designed to accommodate the heavier stainless steel frames of full size pistols, compact sizes will fit nicely as well such as the Dagger compact or Glock 19. Some thicker sized subcompacts may fit in the holster but may have some play either within the holster or with the lock strap. We do not recommend any slim sized subcompacts or micros to be worn in the holster as they will be too small.

Are the holsters on the Homesteader optic ready?

At this time we do not offer a universal holster that will accommodate optic mounted firearms. We plan to offer more holster options and accessories to the sling system in the future so please stay up to date with us.
